Reasoning Behind Denials

md4Being denied for social security is something that almost everyone that has ever gone through the process is well aware of. It came seem very demoralizing to put in the time and effort that it takes to fill out all of the applications for social security disability benefits. A person may feel like they are disabled and that it is fairly easy to see, leading them to not understand why they were denied their benefits. The reason for this is the fact that there is a ridiculous amount of people that are applying for benefits. There are so many people that are applying that the system is bogged down and the only way that social security can process through all of the applications is to deny them outright.

If you are in a dire situation and absolutely need benefits immediately, there is a good chance that you will be able to get them within a few months, but this is for a very small amount of people. Way over ninety nine percent of people will get denied, not only once, but multiple times during the process. Your attorney will tell you that you will be denied and to expect this, and you will end up getting your initial denial papers in the mail. However, you simply bring them to your attorney, who will be able to file for an appeal. After you file for your appeal, you can start to gather the documents from your doctors, as well as from all other sources, which prove that you are in fact disabled. This time frame may take over a year, although it can vary from state to state, but expect it to be at least over six months before you get your next denial. After multiple times of going through this, you are going to end up going in front of a judge.

The reason for all of this is to make sure that people who don’t truly need benefits do not have an easy route to get them. Anyone that truly is disabled is not going to give up, although it may seem like a long and tedious process. In the end, those people that stick it out and fight for their benefits are likely going to get them. While the system is not perfect, it is the only way to make sure that the people who really need benefits get them, while weeding out the people that simply would like to get off without working, or have other options. If you think you are disabled and want to get benefits, the best thing you can do is talk to a law office, such as Myler Disability, and get proper representation.
